Local Authority Consultation
Local Authority Consultation
The school receives Consultation Documents from the Local Authority requesting consideration of placement based on meeting the needs of the child. The school will read through the attached documentation, including an up to date EHCP and consider if they are able to continue to assess for a place at Maple House School.
Assessment
The school will complete a set of assessments to ensure that Maple House School is the most suitable for the child or young person. This includes:

Inviting the child/young person with family to school for a walk and talk

Visiting previous settings or at home

Liaising with other professionals where required.
Response
The school will respond to the local authority with a response within 15 days of consultation.
Where the school can meet needs, the school will inform the Local Authority of costs, requirements and a possible start date.
The local authority will take this to their commissioning panel for review.
Placement Agreed
Where a placement is agreed with the local authority, the school will keep in touch with families about a transition plan.
We will invite you in to have another tour, and complete your final consulation paperwork so that we can start to build your positive behaviour support plane and personalised learning plan. We will also discuss a start date and transition plan.

Open Events
The school hold regular open events for families to attend and see the vision and ethos of Maple House School. You will be able to explore our very picturesque and spacious school, our classrooms, intervention rooms and grounds.
We welcome families where we can show our bespoke curriculum offer and our specialised personal development programme.
We can discuss with you the needs of your child and advise on the consultation process above.
We will not be able to stipulate if we can offer placement at these events and will not be able to read EHCPs. This would need to be done through formal consultation.
